主题1:Impact of `Go Global Strategy` on Green Growth in BRI and non-BRI Economies: Evidence from a Double Machine Learning Approach

摘要:As a key stakeholder in global economic and environmental progress, China is pivotal in advancing sustainability. This study innovatively develops Chinas Go Global Index and examines its impact on green growth across BRI and non-BRI economies from 2000 to 2023. Employing double machine learning (DML) and traditional econometric methods, the Go Global strategy significantly enhances green growth in both BRI and non-BRI economies. The robustness of these findings is validated through the absence of endogeneity issues and robustness checks. Moreover, considering aggregate analysis and excluding the impact of external shocks (i.e., the COVID-19 pandemic, the US-China trade war, and the global financial crisis) confirms that the Go Global strategy consistently promotes green growth, highlighting its resilience and effectiveness. Policymakers should integrate eco-environmental risk mitigation into the Go Global strategy to align with the `2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development`, empowering BRI and non-BRI economies to adopt green development principles and advance global environmental sustainability.

主题2Effects of Land Transfer on Climate Change Adaptation: Evidence from Plot-Level Data in China

摘要:We analyze whether land transfer simultaneously affects farmers' long and short-term adaptation decisions to climate change. Based on large-scale household and plot-level survey data from China, we found that after land transfer, farmers are less likely to adopt long-term soil conservation measures for drought mitigation on transferred plots. Instead, they tend to intensify short-term fertilizer application. The empirical analyses confirm the effectiveness of external interventions including climate change training, farmers' organizations, government environmental regulations, and digital extension services in reducing short term adaptive behaviors and promoting long term sustainable adaptation decisions. These findings suggest that both enhancing the stability of land transferees' property rights and implementing external intervention are needed to mitigate adaptive risks.

主题3Quantifying the Impact of External Factors on Terrestrial Ecological Sensitivity: A Meta-Analysis

摘要:The research of terrestrial ecological sensitivity (TES) is critical to ecosystem stability. To prevent the collapse of ecosystems and to maintain sustainable development in ecologically sensitive regions, this study conducted a meta-analysis of 263 observations from 103 primary studies to quantify the effects of five external factors on TES. The further analysis explored variations in TES across studies and identified factors driving these discrepancies. Results revealed that: (a) humidity, land surface temperature (LST), and wind speed showed higher sensitivity on TES among climatic factors, while precipitation exhibited negligible influence compared to temperature. Direct human factors affecting soil and vegetation (e.g., urban construction, vegetation destruction, grazing intensity, afforestation) demonstrated higher ecological sensitivity than most climatic and indirect human factors (e.g., night lights, consumption coefficient, population). Most geographic and air quality factors exhibited lower ecological sensitivity than temperature, while terrestrial water storage and soil moisture exhibited higher sensitivity, (b) NDVI and FVC index exhibited stronger relationships between external factors and TES than NPP, and (c) the major disagreements in primary studies came from the vegetation data source, the latitude and duration of the study, and whether the primary studies considered ecological environmental policies. The findings offer targeted strategies for enhancing ecosystem resilience and guide future research on the sustainable development of terrestrial ecosystems.
