How are queen bees made?
Queen bees are made by selecting a drone bee from a colony and removing its reproductive organs.
The bee is then fed a special diet that will make it become a queen.
After about two weeks, the bee will become a queen and can be placed in a new hive.
Queen bees are important for a colony because they lay eggs.
A colony usually has more than one queen bee.
Most of the time, bees make new queens when their hive becomes overcrowded.
The old queen will leave with some of the worker bees to form a new colony (called swarming).
This is called “supersedure.”
Bees make different types of queens depending on the needs of their colony.
What Queen Bees Are and How Are They Made
There are three types of queens: winter queens, emergency queens, and caste queens.
Winter queens are made when the colony needs a new queen but there is not enough time to wait for the old queen to die or swarm.
The workers will pick a young bee and feed it a special diet that will make it become a queen.
They will feed it longer than they would for a normal queen, and they will also raise the temperature in the hive so that the new queen can develop quickly.
Emergency queens are made if there is an old or sick queen in the colony.
The workers will pick one of the worker bees to become a new queen before she has become too old.
Caste queens are made when the colony needs new bees of a specific color.
There are two types of caste queens: reproductive queens and worker queens.
Reproductive queens are made when the colony needs more drones.
Worker queens are made when the colony needs more worker bees.
Bees can also create queen cells if they need to make a new queen quickly.
A queen cell is a special cell that the workers will build for the new queen.
The new queen will hatch from the egg in the queen cell and then take over the colony.
When Are Queen Bees Needed

It depends on the needs of the colony.
Sometimes, a new queen will be made if the colony is overcrowded.
Or, a new queen will be made if there is an old or sick queen bee in the hive.
Queen bees are also sometimes made when the workers need more drones or worker bees.
The final type of queen that might appear is one that has been specially created because the colony needs a specific kind of bee.
In all of these cases, the bee will be fed a special diet to ensure that it becomes a queen bee and not another type of bee.
Sometimes, this means being placed in a special cell so that it can eat an even more specific diet.
