The title of ‘strongest animal in the world’ is usually given to either tigers or lions depending on who you ask.
However, there are many other powerful animals that could challenge the top 2.
One such creature would be the rhinoceros.
Not only does this African beauty have a large horn on its nose (which it uses for attacking), but it is also very large in size.
Rhinoceros can be confused with African buffalo because of their similar looks and size.
The main difference between the two is that while rhinos have horns, buffalos do not.
Hippos as the Strongest Animal in the World
Another animal that would be strong enough to challenge for this title is the hippopotamus.
This heavyweight lives in Africa as well and can weigh up to 4 tonnes.
One of the most interesting things about hippopotamuses is that they are semi-aquatic creatures.
This means they spend a big part of their time swimming or submerged in water.
This helps them regulate their body temperature – being large animals, it would be difficult for them otherwise.
Not only is the hippo a good swimmer, but it’s also very strong.
They attack crocodiles and lions with their powerful jaws and sharp teeth.
Elephant as One of the Strongest Animals
Another African animal that would give a fight for this title is the elephant.
This behemoth can reach heights of 3 meters when standing upright and weighs up to 12 tonnes.
Elephants are herbivores, but they are not afraid to use their tusks when threatened.
They are also one of the few animals that exhibit grieving behavior when one of their own dies.
So, if you were to ask who the strongest animal in the world is, the answer would probably be one of these African heavyweights.
However, if you were to ask who would win in a fight between them all, then your guess is as good as mine.
One thing is for sure though – it’s not going to be an easy victory (or defeat).
